Book Review: Pearl Lowe's Vintage Craft & Vintage Tea Party

I got some new books the other week so I thought I would share them with you! Both were presents one from my mum and the other from my boyfriend who both know my love for vintage design and style. I'd had my eye on them for ages so I was really pleased when I got them.
First up is Pearl Lowe's Vintage Craft. A beautiful book full of interesting projects for the home. As I've just decorated my bedroom I flicked straight to that chapter and found lots of handmade quilts, cushions, lace curtains and other sumptuous things to fill my boudoir with. Some of the project were things I'd seen before like covering cushions/ repainting dining chairs but it was the photography of her home that made me fall in love with the book.

I'm planning on trying the homemade candles and the butterfly globes sometime in the future. If you know someone who is into vintage style or crafts I think this would make a fantastic gift.
I've dreamed about holding my own tea parties for years but due to my mother owning a pest of a dog  unfortunately they will remain dreams. So when I saw Vintage Tea Party in Waterstones I used my best BIRNT face until by boyfriend gave in with the assured promises of tea and scones in the future. This book is AMAZING. The books creator Angel set up her own business a few years ago creating beautiful tea parties and has put all her knowledge into this book.
There's templates for invitations and the book is split into sections breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea etc so all occasions are covered. I can't wait to trial some of the recipes out but I'll have to do it at my nan's house or a very scaled down version. There's even tips on how to get the 40's look with eye liner flicks and victory rolls. Two lovely books, two lovely presents thank you!

Chambray And Studs

Good evening! Just a quick outfit post  and update on the ol'life while I have a cup of  tea and watch Game of thrones. I finally finished decorating my room this weekend. My new bed came Friday morning encased in 4 giant boxes and took me and the other half 10 hours to build. I'd never seen so many planks of wood in my life! My room still needs a few finishing touches ie. a new carpet but I'm glad it's pretty much sorted. You shall see the results shortly...

Also I'm off to a festival in 8 days! Download in Donington to be exact. It'll be my forth year this time so I'm planning some festival related posts such as packing/beauty camping tips. This years lineup are Iron Maiden, Slipknot and Rammstein. Not as good as last year but who could beat the stellar lineup that was Prodigy, Metallica and Black Sabbath? I've seen Maiden before at the Motor point arena in Cardiff back in 06 so I'm looking forward to seeing Bruce and the gang again and the new Eddy props.
Back to this year we are planning to catch 30 seconds to Mars, Bullet for My Valentine, Stone Sour, Ghost, HIM, Queens Of The Stone Age and I cannot wait to see Alice In Chains, eek! I:m in love with the Seattle Sound aka "Grunge" and I've seen 2 out of the "Seattle Four" Pearl Jam ( My love for Eddie Vedder will never die sorry Alex) and Soundgarden at last years Download so seeing AIC will make it complete. I can't really see Nirvana can I? but I've seen Foo fighters so does that count?

This is what I wore yesterday. After a small shopping spree in town I came back with this blue chambray shirt and black skinnies from New Look and some studded sandals from Primarni. This shirt is perfect for the summer as the fabric is so light and airy. I buttoned it up to the top for a more preppy feel and wore my hair in milkmaid braids. People in work have been calling me dutch lady but my inspiration was more Game Of Thrones based which is far cooler ha ha. Perfect outfit for coffee in town with my family.

So keep tuned for some festi-posts xx
